making offers, counter-offers, home inspections and moving

I know, I’ve been neglecting the happy living Blog lately.  Work at my ‘day job’ has picked up a bit in the last week and last Thursday we made any offer on a house.  Ever since then, I have been in a whirlwind.  And on Sunday, after two counter-offers, they accepted our offer.  We had our home inspection yesterday and mostly everything looks good…just a couple minor items to handle.

I feel most stressed about tackling all the things we need to do to get our current house ready to be put on the market.  I’ve been reading articles on everything from how to install GFCI outlets to how to stage your home for an open house.

But I do have periods of excitement and anticipation of starting ‘new’ in our ‘new to us’ house.  The great thing about it is that this will be a more long-term home for us – more commitment and more time to decorate and make the changes we want to.  I spend a lot of time drooling over the interiors on desire to inspire.  This one below I like very much!  And we’ll actually have a small separate dining room now!

I also found some really good ‘moving’ resources on the Real Simple website.  There are a couple of helpful checklists and worksheets.  And of course because I am an organizing freak, I bought a binder yesterday to start organizing all my ‘house’ and ‘moving’ stuff.

Hopefully if all goes well, we’ll close on 8/31.  I look forward to sharing some of our journey with you and of course, to keep talking about happy living!
