worth seeing: Gordon Matta-Clark and Bruno Mathsson

New York: Besides the Cooper-Hewitt, one of my favorite museums in NYC is the Whitney, not necessarily for their building, but for their collection and exhibits.  From 22 Feb till 7 June there is a Gordon Matta-Clark retrospective.  His photographs and building cuts of vernacular architecture always make me remember to look twice at things I might otherwise drive by when I am out and about.

New York: Most everyone has heard of Eero Saarinen and Ray and Charles Eames and probably George Nelson, icons of Mid-Century Modernist design.  Less people have heard of Bruno Mathsson, a Swedish Modernist.  His Eva chair is one of my favorites.  The Bard Graduate Center for Studies in the Decorative Arts, Design & Culture (that’s long!) is hosting an exhibition on Mathsson, sponsored by the Bruno Mathsson Foundation from 22 March until 10 June.
